The power behind PORCE III

2008 Mar 20

In many respects, Porce III is a typical South American hydroelectric power project (HEP). A remote location, a jungle environment, soft and unstable ground, unpredictable weather – the kind of conditions that contractors in this part of the world take in their stride. However, while Colombia’s Porce III project is not exceptional, it does present a major challenge for the contractors and their suppliers.

The joint venture (JV) ? Construções e Comércio Camargo Corrêa (CCCC) of Brazil and Conconcreto and Coninsa of Colombia ? have set themselves a tough goal. They aim to stay ahead of schedule at all times and to maximize their chance of success they are using Atlas Copco as their main supplier and construction partner.

Atlas Copco has supplied the majority of the equipment for the necessary tunnelling work as well as on-site, preventive maintenance and service ? an arrangement designed to keep equipment availability at the highest possible level.

Epiroc operated under the trademark “Atlas Copco” prior to January 1, 2018.
