ABC TOTAL gains ground in Canada

Kidd Creek, mining 2.4 million tonnes of Cu/Zn ore/yr has introduced the advanced boom control system ABC Total on its latest drilling jumbos.

When Falconbridge Limited decided to take its Kidd Creek zinc copper deposit to a vertical depth of 3,048 metres in 2001, it turned the drill pattern over to the computerised system on its Atlas Copco M2C Rocket Boomer. The results were so impressive that it took delivery of a second M2C in February 2004.
