Long Mast boosts ROC productivity

2005 Jan 03

Atlas Copco has introduced a new hydraulic crawler mounted drill
rig to the North American market ? the ROC D7LM (Long Mast). The rig is an updated and streamlined version of the well-known ROC D7. The rig is designed to provide maximum productivity for site preparation work in the construction industry, enabling single pass drilling with the largest coverage area of any other rig in the market. It is capable of drilling 21/2?41/2 inch (64?115 mm) blast holes to a depth of 19 feet (5.75 m) in a single pass, or to a maximum depth of 33 feet (10 m) with one extra drill rod. The single pass design eliminates the need for drill steel changes, which increases the production rate by 50 per cent compared with conventional 10-12 foot drills with rod changer carousels. The ROC D7LM is also equipped with a Long Mast boosts ROC productivity Rod Adding System (RAS), which enables the operator to efficiently add an extra drill rod section when a deeper hole is required.

Epiroc operated under the trademark “Atlas Copco” prior to January 1, 2018.
