Raises on the rise

The construction of two parallel raises that will ultimately become one huge shaft is a major task now facing Mexico?s Fresnillo silver mine.

The shaft, which will be used to hoist more ore to the surface and pave the way for future growth, is being driven by an Atlas Copco Robbins 73RH C. Commissioned in early 2009, the two raises, each more than 500 m long, are being driven with a minimum of deviation.
