Hydraulic breaker at Kamchatka platinum winning

ZAO KGD, one of the leading extraction companies in the Far East, ordered an Atlas Copco hydraulic breaker HB 5800 Dust. After a long journey – with a long distance to be rapidly surmounted – the machine finally operates with full capacity in an open pit significantly named “Icy”.

Slovakian siderite still going strong

The breakup of Czechoslovakia in 1989 and the creation of the Czech Republic and Slovakia left the country´s mining industry in crisis. Financial support, which had long been provided by the state, suddenly disappeared. Nižná Slaná was one of the few mines that survived the new economic reality.

Technology for big boys

On the island of Madeira a new road is to be built connecting the port of Funchal with the Cuota 400, the island’s central expressway which links the tourist resort Ribeira Brava with the airport. A 600 m tunnel will lead through the mountainous region shortening the distance between the port and the villages and towns in the middle of Madeira.

Making the face a safer place

It may be early days for Atlas Copco’s new Rod Handling System E (RHS E) but reports from the field have been very positive. M&C visits two contractors using the RHS at a tunnel construction project in Stockholm, Sweden, to get their views about the new system.

A room with a view

For years the grounds of the Helene-Amalie power station facing the offices of Atlas Copco Construction Tools in Essen were left unexploited. Now the employees can look through their office windows and watch the progress made as the complex is being demolished.
