The perfect seal

2009 Jun 15

A railway tunnel in Norway that will improve access to Gardemoen airport, north of Oslo, has been sealed from water ingress using an Atlas Copco Unigrout grouting plant.

The water influx specification called for a maximum of three litres per minute per 100 metres of tunnel. This meant the grouting required highly accurate and effective grouting.

The 24 metre long grout holes were drilled every three rounds and had a lookout angle of 5-6 degrees. The entire grouting cycle took just 12 to 14 hours including the long hole drilling of 75 holes, pregrouting and sealing.

Epiroc operated under the trademark “Atlas Copco” prior to January 1, 2018.
