It’s raining hard as the blasting boss strides across the construction site shouldering a 25-kilo sack of dynamite. Meet Lisa Nilsson, one of the few women in the world to blast her way to the top in this male-dominated profession.

Swedish blasting contractor Lisa Nilsson has the distinction of being a successful entrepreneur in one of the toughest male-dominated professions in the world. And not only that, she runs her own drill and blast company, Lisas Bergsprängning, which is entirely staffed by men.

M&C recently caught up with Nilsson at a construction site near Gothenburg, and persuaded her to come in out of the torrential rain and away from the mud and clay to talk about her life ? and the secret of her success.

?Firstly, I have five Atlas Copco drill rigs,? she says, quickly adding ?and of course I also have my guys who do such a fantastic job!?
