AngloGold Ashanti has invested USD 181 million to expand production at its Cuiabá gold mine in Brazil to 300,000 oz/year. A new Cabletec has speeded up operations by 18 percent compared to the work previously done by three separate units.

The Cuiabá mine will increase its gold production by 50 percent and simultaneously increase the production of sulphuric acid, a by-product, from 130,000 tonnes per year to 150,000 t/y. This will represent an increase of 50 percent in revenue during the first four years as well as an extension of the operating life of the mine from 2013 to 2019.

Epiroc operated under the trademark “Atlas Copco” prior to January 1, 2018.
